Day 1
CMB Airport / Colombo to First Ancient Capital: Anuradhapura
Pickup from Colombo or airport. Journey north to Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka’s first kingdom. Visit the sacred 2,300-year-old Sri Maha Bodhi tree and the colossal white dome of Ruwanwelisaya Stupa.
Day 2
Anuradhapura to Sigiriya & Pidurangala Sunset
Explore the royal Twin Ponds (Kuttam Pokuna) and Samadhi Buddha statue. In the afternoon, travel to Sigiriya and hike Pidurangala Rock for an extraordinary sunset facing the Lion Rock.
Day 3
Sigiriya Lion Rock Citadel & Medieval Polonnaruwa
Ascend Sigiriya Lion Rock early in the morning. Afternoon exploration of the UNESCO city of Polonnaruwa, visiting the Royal Palace of King Parakramabahu and the Gal Vihara shrine.
Day 4
Dambulla Cave Temples to Royal City of Kandy
Explore the 5 sacred cave temples of Dambulla containing over 150 Buddha statues. Drive to Kandy via Matale spice estates. Evening attendance at the sacred evening Puja ritual at the Temple of the Tooth.
Day 5
Kandy Royal Botanic Gardens to Colombo / Airport Drop
